FAQ

1. Can the lavatory drain in the wall be cleaned if it becomes clogged?

  A. Yes, typically the drain is and can still be accessed by simply removing the P-Trap J bend to insert the drain cleaning cable.

2. When do I need to add new disinfectant tablets?

  A. The tablet dispenser holds three disinfectant tablets that should last twelve months. The system should receive annual maintenance which includes replacement of disinfectant tablets and filter cleaning.

3. What amount of fresh water and savings can I expect by using the AQUS™ system?

  A. The average two person bathroom uses 9-12 gallons of fresh water per day for normal lavatory sink activities (ex. tooth brushing, shaving, makeup application and removal, medicine, etc.). Savings can be calculated by combing the rates charged on your water bill for fresh and wastewater times your estimated gallons of usage.

4. How often do I need to clean the filter screen in the reservoir tank?

  A. The reservoir tank screen should be checked at the time of annual maintenance and should be rinsed or replaced, as needed.

5. Will long hair jam the pump in the reservoir tank?

  A. Long hair has not been found to be a problem. Typically long hair tends to tangle in the popup before entering the drain piping. The swirling motion of the water causes the hair to wrap around the stopper, and any hair that passes though the pop up must also pass the filter screen inside the reservoir tank before coming in contact with the pump.

6. In the event of a malfunction of the AQUS™ system can I still use my bathroom sink?

  A. Yes, the AQUS™ system is designed to allow normal usage of the lavatory and the toilet in the event of a malfunction of the AQUS™ system. The reservoir tank will fill to capacity which will allow water from the lavatory to be redirected to the main drain at the wall.

7. Can my dog still drink from the toilet?

  A. The reused water from the reservoir tank is disinfected and filtered and should not be harmful to animals or humans.

8. Is the AQUS™ system compatible with dual flush toilets and double sink bathrooms?

  A. At present, the AQUS™ system is not compatible with dual flush toilets. For double sink bathrooms, the inlet plumbing can be configured to join both drain lines prior to entering the reservoir.
